Recently I have experimented the joy of jewelry design. It’s my passion and although my jewelry brand is practically in stand by due to a lack of time to develop and market my designs, I enjoy to sketch and to be payed for sketching makes me feel like a pro.
I started working as a freelance jewelry designer thru an online site and recently I was called to design jewelry for brands that were going to go thru several designs of different designers and choose whatever they thought were aligned with the mood board they sent.
The first work was awesome, very detailed with what they wanted, the trends they wanted to follow, the colors, pretty much everything and here I’m talking about trends for Fall 2017 and Holiday 2017. They chose some of my designs, which makes me feel so proud of myself. Due to the non disclosure agreement I can’t share with you the designs I did but I will let you know for sure when they upload them for sale in the website.
The second work was a little more vague. They knew the techniques in which they wanted the designs to be produced but they didn’t talk about color, so it was a little harder to design. Today, I received the bad news, they didn’t picked any of my designs and I think I know why. Well, what remains is the knowledge that next time I have to fully develop jewelry designs more attached to what they want and also, to include color in the designs and order.
Here I show you what wasn’t selected:
So there you go, I think they are pretty designs but probably I should pay more attention to the quality of my drawings cause my ideas can be good but if my presentation is not good, the designs will not be choosen.
For my jewelry brand, I may use some of these designs, although right now my jewelry brand is needing investment and I haven’t got the funds needed to relaunch it.
What are your thoughts? Do you think these designs are cool? Would you wear them? I would love to hear your opinion about these designs, good or bad comments are welcome. Hope to hear from you’all soon!
